Abstract

This paper proposes to address the values of the Tunisian revolution within the space allocated. To do this, It tries to show how the value of dignity encompasses those of freedom and social justice through a semantic discussion around the notion of «karāma» (= dignity), a historical quest of Tunisian dignity throughout the second half of the twentieth-first century and the first decade of the twenty-first century, and an attempt to conceptualize in ethico-political or ontological terms the Tunisian events. This article shows the dissatisfaction of the author regarding the majority of attempts to think the Tunisian revolution by Western political thinkers and philosophers, and adopts instead a critical path combining practical philosophy, sociology, history and artistic creations.
