Biography
Maria Tortajada is Full Professor of History and Aesthetics of Cinema at the University of Lausanne. Her research focuses on the epistemology of audio-visual texts, theories of representation and audience construction and Swiss film. She has authored Le spectateur séduit. Le libertinage dans le cinéma d’Eric Rohmer et sa fonction dans une théorie de la représentation filmique (Paris, Kimé, 1999) and has co-edited with François Albera the following volumes: Cinema Beyond Film. Media Epistemology in the Modern Era (Amsterdam, AUP, 2010), Cinédispositifs. Spectacles, cinéma, télévision, littérature (Lausanne, L’Age d’homme, 2011) and Cine-Dispositives. Essays in Epistemology Across Media (Amsterdam, AUP, 2015).
