María Galán holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Universitat de València and is currently completing a Master in Interculturality, Communication and Journalism at the same institution. She is a pre-doctoral fellow in the Department of Theory of Languages and Sciences of Communication. Her research focuses on the construction of Confederate Propaganda discourse and its effects over the southern public opinion during the American Civil War. She has contributed to the book El humor en la historia de la comunicación en Europa y América (Cuenca, Ediciones de la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, 2015) with a chapter on the depiction of Confederate South in the comic strips of the Northern media in the 1860s.
