Júlia Araújo Mendes is a Ph.D student in the Gender Studies Program at the University of Valencia, Spain, where she holds a fellowship by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior – CAPES (Ministry of Education of Brasil). Her reserach focusses on micropolitical practices, feminism and free /communitarian radios. She holds a BA in Social Communication by the Universidade Federal de Alagoas – UFAL (Brasil) and a Master on Gender and Equality Policies by the Universitat de València. She has been in residency at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México – UNAM and at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas – UNICAMP (Brasil). Among her publications, the co-authorship of two volumes: Reinvenção do Rádio (Brasil) and Comunidad y Comunicación: prácticas comunicativas y comunitarias en Europa y América Latina (España), both of them to appear in 2017.
