Juan Carlos Fernández Serrato teaches Theory of Communication and Information in the BA Program in Journalism, History of Social Communication in the BA in Audiovisual Communication, and Semiotics of Representation in the Máster de Artes del Espectáculo Vivo in the Department of Journalism at the University of Seville. He has been Visiting Professor of Contemporary Spanish Literature at the University of Geneva and at the Austral University of Chile. His research focuses on the rhetoric of experimental poetry, the relationship between poetic writing and visual discourse, the Generation of 1970 and the relationship between artistic discourses and avant-garde pop culture. He is the author of, among other works, ¿Cómo se lee un poema visual? Retórica y poética del experimentalismo español, Mi oficio es la extrañeza y El techo es la intemperie. In 2016 he won the Gerardo Diego International Essay Award with La mirada de Orfeo.
