Javier Marzal Felici is Full Professor of Media Studies at the University Jaume I in Castellón (Spain). His PhD research is focused on the creation of narration in American silent melodrama. He has published various monographs including David Wark Griffith (Madrid, Cátedra, 1998), La mirada cautiva. Formas de ver en el cine contemporáneo (Valencia, Conselleria de Cultura, 1999), Metodologías de análisis del film (Madrid, Edipo, 2007), and Cómo se lee una fotografía. Interpretaciones de la mirada (Madrid, Cátedra, 2007). He is a Member of the Communication Experts Advisory Committee (CECUV) in charge of drafting an official report for the Valencian Parliament on the creation of a new public service television.
