Biography
Hy Dao is Professor at the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Geneva and Head of the Metadata & Socio-Economics Unit at GRID (Global Ressource Information Database)-Geneva. He holds a post-graduate diploma from the International Institute for Aerospace Surveys and Earth Sciences (ITC, Enschede, The Netherlands) and a PhD in human geography from the University of Geneva. He is in charge of several academic courses and programs in the field of geographic information. He was leader and expert in several ESPON projects (EU funded). He has been leading several projects on sustainable development indicators done in collaboration with the Swiss government. He contributed to the risk and vulnerability analyses in the UNISDR (United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction ) Global Assessment Report series. He led two recent projects on Planetary Boundaries : Environmental limits and Swiss Footprints based on Planetary Boundaries and blueDot - Environmental footprints of nations.
