Carlos Hernández Sacristán

Biography

Carlos Hernández Sacristán is professor of general linguistics at the University of Valencia, and he has also taught at the Universities of Mainz, Heidelberg (Germany) and Geneva (Switzerland). His initial research has focused on theory of syntax from a perceptual and phenomenological perspective. Since 1990 he has developed research in contrastive linguistics and translation theory by taking into consideration a pragmatic point of view. Intercultural communication and linguistic anthropology have also been important topics for him. His recent research is particularly centred on the clinical assessment of linguistic and communicative impairments.
