Biography
Anacleto Ferrer is Full Professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts at the University of Valencia. He is the author, among others, of the books La reflexión del eremita. Razón, revolución y poesía en el «Hiperión» de Hölderlin (Hiperión, 1993) et Hölderlin (Síntesis, 2004). He has translated Friedrich Hölderlin, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Bertolt Brecht, Georg Grosz, Moholy-Nagy, Raoul Hausmann, Erich Fried, Hannah Arendt and Ernst Toller into Spanish and Catalan. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Hölderlin-Gesellschaft in Germany. His current lines of work revolve around Critical Theory (with special attention to Walter Benjamin and Siegfried Kracauer) and the study of the representations of the perpetrators of mass political violence. On this topic he has published the book Facticidad y ficción. Ensayo sobre cinco secuencias fotográficas de perpetración de la Shoah (Shangrila, 2020).
