Basilio Casanova Varela holds a Ph. D. in Philosophy and is a lecturer at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where he teaches Theory of the Audiovisual Text, Contemporary Art and Psychoanalytical Conceptualisation. He has authored, among other publications, the volumes Vida en sombras o el cine en el cine, Leyendo a Hitchcock. Análisis textual de North by Northwest y Repensando el arte moderno. He is a member of the cultural association Trama y Fondo.
